More in class drawings. One of the most important things in trying to give an image depth is the single light source. One of the other secrets to giving an image more depth is to do away with outlining the person with lines and instead using a dark outside edge to pop out the image(simulated above). Life drawing wasn't one of my favorite classes but i know its important to understand real life human anatomy even if you want to create fantasy characters.
